This thread is to post a design meeting update and list the deliverables of each system for the next design meeting in a week.
Overview:
In the past two weeks the work done was not the amount we wanted to make sure we develop a great car on schedule. This prompted the switch to weekly design meetings as opposed to bi-weekly. Also all system team leaders must update the forum on a weekly basis, prior to the design meeting. This helps everyone know what is going on with the car and allows a greater knowledge to be developed by the entire team.
System Deliverables:
Suspension:
All kinematics finalized
Finalize front hub design
Finish front upright design
Design shock position sensor mounting for all shocks and springs
Check Toe-Link load in rear A-arm for bending stress
Chassis:
Complete both torsion tests on the 2009 chassis
Steering:
Finalized rack design in CAD
Brakes:
Completed brake design spreadsheet with all numbers necessary for design
Post spreadsheet to forum
Put together decision matrix for Inboard vs. Outboard brakes
Intake:
Run initial designs through WAVE and CFD to allow design completion in the following week
Find MAF sensor for intake flow benching
Exhaust:
Find supplier for titanium material
Run WAVE simulations to narrow in on exhaust design
Oiling:
Reservoir design finalized
Pan design finalized
Overflow design incorporated into Reservoir
Cooling:
Radiator and Fan selection completed, cooling calculations done
Differential:
Complete 2 element Torsen model begin design
Check on material for 3 element back-up
Electrical:
Finish PDM/PDB design
Calibrate strain gauge on pull-rod
Find connectors necessary for sensors and harness
Ergonomics:
Completed Concept of pedal box in CAD
Finalize Driver dimension sheet
