Two year program

Post by Dan Domikaitis »

I saw in a post by Luther that if certain design targets aren't hit, then the car will be a two year program. I have a few thoughts to consider:

1. If it is a two year program, you should be forthright with sponsors and let them know you won't be competing for two years (or at West, or international)
2. You're goals and targets should be set much higher than the current level if you have 1.5 years to design and develop a car before testing the piss out of it.
3. Is the University cool with this possibility and still giving you funding?
4. I don't see any reason the car can't be made in a year, the team has a wealth of information available, even if designs are straight copied from previous years. I personally think you guys should go no matter what, and worse case risk sacrificing a good placement by focusing on developing the next year's car during the season. Look at Brawn GP, that's basically what Honda did before they left it to Ross Brawn to run the show.
